A wonderful low mat-forming variety of Thyme with tiny felted gray-green
leaves. Gardeners have adored this plant for its ability to handle foot traffic and
is often used between stepping stones and along garden paths. Woolly Thyme looks good all
season but rarely flowers. Plants are a little slow growing when compared to other thyme
selections, but the gorgeous carpets of foliage it creates are well worth the gardeners
patience.
Plants do best in full sun but will tolerate light shade. The most
important thing to remember when growing Thyme is to make sure they are planted in a soil
that drains well. Plants will quickly die if grown in soggy soils. When
setting out new plants be careful not to over water - let the soil dry out between
waterings. Thyme prefers a light, sandy soil so amend just enough to improve the
soils structure and drainage. Feed in the spring with a combination of blood and
bone meal. Liquid feed in summer with fish emulsion or compost tea.
