This delightful
floribunda rose is named for the beloved French chef 'Julia Child'
who personaly selected this rose to bear her name. Blooms are a
gorgeous shade of buttery golden yellow and are have a wonderful
fragrance. Plants are compact growers and very easy to grow. Hardy
in zones 5 through 10, and 4 with proper protection. The vigorous
plants are heavy bloomers that start blooming in late spring and
continue putting on thier flowering show right up until the first
frost.
Height: 36 - 48 inches
Fragrance: mild
Disease Resistance: Very good
Zones: 5-10 (4 with protection)
Culture Notes: Plant in area that
receives full sun, a minimum of 5 hours of direct sun is recommended.
FloribundaRoses are not as fussy about soils as many other types
of roses, but will do their best in a soil that has been amended
with plenty of organic materials. (see
improving your soil for more info) While these roses are considered
very heat tolerant they do require a moderate level of moisture
to really flower heavily. Water during extended dry spells and frequently
during the first 3 -4 weeks after planting. To help conserve
soil moisture it is always a good idea to apply a layer of organic
mulch such as pine bark around the base of the plant to a depth
of 3 - 4 inches. Light pruning may be required to maintain
a tidier plant and deadheading faded blooms will encourage heavier
flowering. Feed at least twice during the growing season
with a combination of blood and bone meals.
