The Meidiland Rose 'Bonica' is an easy to grow
Landscape rose. Don't let its dainty appearance fool you - this is one tough rose!
Bonica is extremely vigorous and disease resistant. The pink blossoms appear in huge
numbers from early summer right up through fall. Bonica was voted the World's
Favorite Rose in 1997 by the World Federation of Rose
Societies and an All American Winner in 1987. This rose is one of the most
popular roses selected by gardeners who love roses but do not want to spend every
gardening moment combating rose enemies such as bugs and disease. Bonica was
introduced by Meilland, the world famous family owned rose business in France. The Meilland family has been hybridizing roses for
decades. This is the same family that introduced the legendary 'Peace' rose after World
War II. You can not go wrong with this amazing Landscape Rose - easy to grow with constant
color.
Height: 30 - 48 inches
Habit: mounding (also makes a good ground cover)
Fragrance: mild
Disease Resistance: Very good
Zones: 4 -10 (coldest areas of 4 may require protection)
Culture Notes: Plant in area that receives
full sun, a minimum of 5 hours of direct sun is recommended.
Landscape Roses are not as fussy about soils as many other types
of roses, but will do their best in a soil that has been amended
with plenty of organic materials. (see
improving your soil for more info) While these roses are considered
very heat tolerant they do require a moderate level of moisture
to really flower heavily. Water during extended dry spells and frequently
during the first 3 -4 weeks after planting. To help conserve
soil moisture it is always a good idea to apply a layer of organic
mulch such as pine bark around the base of the plant to a depth
of 3 - 4 inches. Light pruning may be required to maintain
a tidier plant and deadheading faded blooms will encourage heavier
flowering. Feed at least twice during the growing season
with a combination of blood and bone meals.

Plants
are grown using a new patented method called "The Etera
Growing Process" or EGP. The process involves growing the
plants in the ground using a bottomless pot. This allows unrestricted
root development which allows the plants roots to dive deep
into the ground while being easy to harvest from the growing
