Duchess is one of our best selling
Peonies and of all the whites we have grown through the years this is our favorite.
The fragrant, creamy white blooms have a beautiful soft yellow center that deepens to a
pale green at the base of the petals. Duchess is a very prolific bloomer and has
attractive deep green foliage with very strong stems.
Peony 'Duchess de Nemours'
Plant in full sun and provide a rich well drained soil. Feed lightly
in early spring with a top dressing of compost and bone meal - over feeding can cause the
plants not to bloom. When planting Peony roots place the eyes 1 1/2 - 2 inches below
the soil level. Planting the roots to deeply can cause Peonies not to produce flowers.
Water new plants frequently to help them get off to strong start - more often than
not Peonies will not flower the first year - they will spend the first season establishing
themselves.
