If you are looking to add fragrance to
your garden Jean Davis is a must have perennial. This variety of the very popular
English Lavender has the same compact growth habit as 'Hidcote' growing to only about a
foot tall. The main difference is in the bloom color - the flowers are not the usual
purple we all associate with English Lavender plants - Jean Davis blooms are a very
soft pink. Foliage is blue-green and has a slightly more "airy' look to it than
Hidcote. We have had great success with this variety of English Lavender and highly
recommend it.
Lavender 'Jean Davis'
Plant in full sun and provide a decent well drained soil. Fertilize in
early spring with a top dressing of compost and bone meal. Liquid feed twice during
the summer with fish emulsion or seaweed extract. Lavender must be grown in dry
soils - it will not tolerate wet feet. To improve your soils drainage add pea gravel or
sand.
