One of the most care-free perennials we offer. Heliopsis 'Summer Sun' is a rugged, nearly fool-proof plant that blooms from July right up until the first frost. Plants grow to 4 feet tall so give Heliopsis a home towards the back of the garden. Butterflies just adore the Sunflower-yellow blooms making it a must have for the butterfly garden. Heliopsis prefers full sun but will tolerate some afternoon shade. Plants are not fussy about soil types but for best results the planting spot needs to be amended with a good helping of organic matter. Do not let Heliopsis suffer through drought conditions - while it is a very vigorous plant  it can suffer damage due to lack of water. Fertilize in early spring with a light top dressing of manure and a light feeding of Fish Emulsion once or twice during the growing season.
