A very exciting breeding breakthrough has
introduced this new strain of Gaillardia that blooms up to a month early than other
varieties. Blooms fist start to open up as early as mid May and continue until the fist
hard frost of October. A very profuse bloomer with masses of vibrant, 4 inch red flowers
edged in bright yellow. Arizona Sun plants are compact and grow to only a foot tall making
them a nice choice for the front of the perennial garden. Foliage is uniform which
is rare in Gaillardia - foliage of other varieties often varies in texture and shape.
Plants are tough and vigorous and will thrive in poor dry soils that other plants will not
tolerate. Give the plants a nice sunny spot in a loose garden soil that is well drained
and they will bloom for years.
Note - Gaillardias are well known for their drought resistance,
however when first establishing themselves in the garden they will need to be watered
until they develop a good root system.
