This beautiful new Brunnera was discovered at
Walters Gardens in Zeeland Michigan and recently won first prize at Plantarium in Holland
for Best New Perennial of the Year. The seeding was discovered in a flat of Brunnera
'Langtrees'. This sport has large heart shaped leaves with a gorgeous silver overlay and
very distinct green veining. Plants form a clump 18 inches wide topped with sprays
of baby blue flowers from mid spring though early summer. Brunneras are very easy to
grow and are ideal for shady spots. Plants do not like dry soils - prefers to be
consistently moist. Limited Supply
Brunnera "Jack Frost'
Plant in partial shade to full sun in a soil that has been amended with
organic materials such as compost, peat and manure. Feed in early spring with a top
dressing of composted manure and bone meal. Liquid feed twice during the growing
season with fish emulsion. You will get fuller, tidier plants by lightly pruning
back the basal foliage in the spring and fall. Brunnera will grow best if roots are
kept cool - apply a three inch layer of mulch each spring.
