Spectacular variety with lilac-purple flowers that begin their debut in mid
to late May and remain in color through most of July. Very nice vibrant color that seems
to glow in dappled shade. Plant Amethyst in a rich organic soil that retains moisture. Apply
layer of mulch to help the plants roots remain cool and keep the soil moist. Unlike many
perennials, pruning or deadheading will not prolong flowering periods but can improve the
plants appearance. To keep foliage attractive all summer make sure the plant does not dry
out . Astilbes are Clump forming and will need dividing every 3-4 years.
