This delightful Siberian Iris has
creamy white standards, buttery yellow falls with greenish yellow veins. Butter and
Sugar begins blooming in mid to late spring and continues producing its wonderful blooms
into summer. Flowers are held on sturdy stems that emerge from grass-like clumps
that are on average about 30 inches tall with a spread of about 2 feet. Butter and
Sugar often re-blooms in the fall when growing conditions are ideal.
Siberian Iris will grow in a wide range of conditions but for best results
grow them in a moist, slightly acidic soil that has been amended with plenty of organic
materials. Plants prefer full sun but do just as well in partial shade.
Established clumps of Siberian Iris are very drought tolerant due to their deep
growing root systems - newly planted ones are not and need a good supply of water to
establish themselves. Mulch with two to three inches of pine bark to conserve soil
moisture.
