Hosta 'Royal Standard'

Hosta Royal Standard Very nice mound forming Hosta with large glossy green leaves. Royal Standard was introduced by Wayside Gardens in 1965 and was the first Hosta to ever be awarded a US Plant Patent. While gardeners always seem to love "new' perennials this fine Hosta is a good example of why the new introductions are not always best. Royal Standard is a tried and true garden plant. Blooms are white and have a wonderful scent. One of the best Hostas for poor soils.

Hostas prefer partial to full shade and a good rich garden soil that is moist but well drained. Moisture plays a crucial role in growing beautiful Hosta plants - you will need to water plants during prolonged dry spells. Feed in very early spring with a top dressing of composted manure and bone meal. Liquid feed at least twice during the growing season with seaweed extract or fish emulsion.
