Hostas prefer partial to full shade and a good rich garden soil that is moist but well drained. Moisture plays a crucial role in growing beautiful Hosta plants - you will need to water plants during prolonged dry spells. Feed in very early spring with a top dressing of composted manure and bone meal. Liquid feed at least twice during the growing season with seaweed extract or fish emulsion. Introduced in 1994, Minuteman is often described as an improvement over the
very popular Hosta 'Patriot' which are both sports of 'Francee'. Minuteman has a darker
green center than Patriot which does give it a very striking appearance. Leaves are cupped
with wide pure white margins and form nice 18 inch clumps with mature spreads of around 4
feet. A very nice Hosta that is quickly gaining in popularity.
