The perennial form of Hibiscus also known as Rose Mallow
is the most tropical looking of all the perennials we offer.
The flowers are the largest of of any perennial available
to gardeners and make an outstanding focal point in the summer
garden.
For the best results plant Hibiscus in rich moist soil in
full sun. Plants will tolerate some shade but will result
in fewer blooms. Some of the taller growing plants may need
staking. Fertilize plants in mid to late spring with a good
dressing of blood and bone meal. Plants will benefit from
a second feeding in mid summer.
Hibiscus plants are one of the last perennials to emerge
in the spirng. The plants will wait for warm nights and warm
soil before showing any signs of growth. Perennial hibiscus
plants are hardy to zone 4 and can survive in zone 3 with
extra protection.
