>Frequently Asked Questions:

Q What does bare root mean ?
A Bare root perennials are grown in fields or beds then dug up in the fall.  The top growth and soil are washed off and the root itself is placed in cold storage. Many perennials are shipped this way due to their root systems being either to large for pots or because they just do not grow well in pots. To see a picture of what a bare root perennial looks like please see our perennial plant sizes page
Q Can you ship my order earlier than the first ship week available.
A Due to our climate here in the Appalachian Mountains of southwest Virginia we can not safely begin shipping until the week of March 22.  It is just to cold here to risk shipping any earlier.
Q Does Gorge Top Gardens provide wholesale prices to other retailers?
A Discounts to other retailers are based on quantities of at least 100 of the same variety.
Q Do you have a mail order catalog?
A Yes.  If you would like to be on our mailing list please fill out the form located at our catalog request page.
Q How long is your guarantee for?
A We guarantee that your perennials will arrive in a healthy viable condition. We do not warranty the plants for any given time since the survival of living plants is dependant upon factors beyond our control.  Please inspect your shipment and notify us within 14 days if you have received damaged plant material.
Q What do I do if I am unable to plant my perennials upon arrival of my order?
A We strongly recommend that you try to get your perennials in the ground as quickly as possible.  If you are unable to plant, store bare root plants in a cool dry area such as basement or garage.  Preferably an area that stays around 50 degrees.  A better solution would be to let mother nature store them for you by digging  a trench in your garden and covering the roots with moist soil. You can then remove the roots from the trench when you are ready to plant them.  Potted plants will have active growth and will need sun light so make sure you store them in an area where they can receive sun.
Q Can I mail in my order?
A Yes - we have provided a printable order form that can be mailed or faxed to us.
Q Can I pay for my order with a personal check?
A Yes - just use the printable order form and include your check when you mail it in.
